We often view people in certain roles private or public as lacking imagination. It is not so much that we always think that they are losers, sometimes doing a lousy job, but at the back of it. It is because we think that if placed in the role with the same challenges, with a little imagination would accomplish great feats. Humans are like that, our ego tells us, we can do better, and we are a better choice for the business. It is not so much that we are smug, and sure of ourselves, it could be that being out of the situation, “out of the box” gives us a better handle to view things from a different perspective. It is not until we are in the role that we will admit to failure, the task is bigger than I am.
We prove that it is easier to talk the talk than to walk the walk. Albert Einstein said, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere”. The mind is the most powerful tool we have, sometimes it plays tricks on us, but it is curious, and when it works properly, it creates many interesting things; it’s innovative power is marvellous to behold. The mind imagines many silly things, but the most tremendous invention comes also through the mind. Mind power can send rocket spacecraft to the moon and back, the same can create a weapon with such terrible destructive force that, he can never imagine using it. Carl Sagan puts it this way, “Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere”.
